Kang back, Baek-ho to start–“We’ll see how he goes”

KT’s Kang Baek-ho (24) has returned to the first team.

He was added to the first-team roster before the game against LG at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on May 5.

Kang Baek-ho, who had a rocky start to the season with the national team and fell into a slump in the middle of the season after suffering from mental strain, has been training on the sidelines since the end of July. He was last dropped from the roster on July 26 against LG, and after joining the development squad on July 22, he got fit and was registered on the first team again today.안전놀이터

KT coach Lee Kang-cheol said, “I received a report that his body is ready, so I didn’t need to keep him in the second team, so I registered him. We don’t plan to use him as a starter yet. Depending on the situation, we will prepare him as a substitute in the second half of the game.” “We will decide (how to use him) after watching him a little bit.”

Kang is currently on the roster for the Hangzhou Asian Games. He’ll need to make the most of his absence before he’s called up to the national team in late September, but KT is also in the midst of a standings battle where every game counts. The team will have to carefully assess Kang Baek-ho’s physical condition. Kang Baek-ho is expected to start as a pinch-hitter to check his batting form and then play as a designated hitter.

Shortstop Kim Sang-soo, who was removed from the roster on Aug. 26 due to an ankle sprain, also made his return after 10 days.

“There is no problem with his batting, but there is some discomfort in his defensive movements, so we plan to wait for him as a substitute in the second half of the game,” Lee explained.
